From their site:
Inspired by the European travels of Robert Mondavi, this Meritage blend is
rich and potent, yet elegant and complex. It is a collage of the five classic
Bordeaux red varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec,
and Cabernet Franc. In the glass, it offers dark plum, black cherry, and
blackberry aromas along with a plush, velvety texture and succulent midpalate
flavors. Its finish is impressively long and enhanced by well-integrated
tannins. A superb match for hearty, richly flavored foods such as grilled rib
eye or porterhouse steak, lamb chops, osso bucco, and flavorful cheeses,
this Meritage turns any meal into a special occasion.
And the Pinot Noir
Our 2008 Pinot Noir was produced primarily from grapes grown along
California’s marine-influenced Central Coast. Reflecting the character of
a cool vintage, which fostered the development of classic varietal aromas
and flavors in our Pinot Noir grapes, this vivacious red wine’s hallmark is
fresh, vibrant fruit. On the nose, lovely cherry and raspberry aromas mingle
with complementary scents of roasted nuts, mint, and toasty oak. Very
soft with good length and richness on the palate, the wine displays round
and silky strawberry and cherry cordial flavors. Enjoy this pretty Pinot Noir
with grilled salmon, herb-roasted chicken, baked ham, and lighter pork
and duck dishes.
Yeah, I eat duck ALL the time. But the wine is sure tasty. I like the Meritage the best. It is in the California style, but with good tannin.
Also, Robert Mondavi makes Woodbridge wines which are budget wines that taste good. Try them for $6.99 a bottle through August.
We carry the Cab, Chard, Merlot and the Pinot Noir.
